简介: 唐末宋初，东海一带，瘟疫肆虐，民不聊生。两位仙人汉钟离和铁拐李为拯救苍生百姓，不约而遇，遂决定前往东海之东的药岛采药。然而却与花龙太子大打出手，铁拐李情急之下将花龙打成重伤。东海龙王因此告上天庭，却不满玉帝裁决，誓言封锁东海，不论仙凡两界，无人可达东海之东的药岛。太白金星道出只有八仙俱全，方能安然过海。玉帝遂遣汉钟离和铁拐李两仙下凡，找寻尚未成仙的其余六仙：韩湘子、何仙姑、吕洞宾、蓝采和、张果老和曹国舅，合八仙之力，渡过东海，采药以济苍生。
