简介: 杜彩霞17岁时被地主恶霸抓去“冲喜”，她无意中烧死地主儿子后被逼殉葬，幸被未婚夫刘满堂所在的八路军团营救。因国民党特务顾思雨的出卖，八路军团全军覆没，彩霞也因此与刘满堂失散并收养了烈士的遗孤，她成为五个孩子的“单身母亲”。解放后，彩霞接受了大贵的感情，但最终在命运的捉弄下没有在一起。上世纪60年代，彩霞与程南山寻亲的过程中相爱，孰料程南山在救治中国鼠疫病人过程中，自己感染了病毒即将失明，最终放弃感情选择了离开。80年代，孩子们已长大成人，年暮的彩霞与归国的付更年在婚礼上回首往事。
