简介: 汉武帝痛感到光阴催人，理想远大而天不永年。他为了让自己长生不老，听信谗臣江充举荐，迎骗子李长生进宫修炼不死药。李长生、江充设计让他邂逅钩弋夫人，迎入宫中。并诬蔑太子谋反，汉武帝信以为真，群臣苦谏，他听不进去，下旨取消太子封号。江充假传圣旨，逮捕太子。太子刘据反出长安，父子反目，卫子夫在绝望中自尽。霍祁连等人血谏汉武帝，揭露江充阴谋，汉武帝失悔，命祁连立即召回太子，但祁连赶到时，太子已吞剑自决……汉武帝失去爱妻爱子，长歌当哭。钩弋夫人乘机要求封自己生的幼子为太子。汉武帝封了新太子，却处死了钩弋夫人，尊其子而杀其母，以防后宫专权的悲剧再度重演。他再一次陷入了高处不胜寒的孤独。
