总督张之洞

简介: 晚清曾国藩、聋鸿章、左宗棠都办起了洋务，开工厂、造枪炮、开矿制船。慈禧因他们都是汉人，在人事安排上另有名虑，将三人都予以恩赏并作为调动，曾国藩任直隶袋督，李鸿章为协力大学士，左宗棠任陕甘总督。张之洞办汉阳铁厂是步他们三人之后，当时化任带胡广总督，是奉旨为修建芦汉铁路而办铁厂的。总督张之洞其职大于巡抚奎春，按清朝定制，总督之职负责军事，巡抚之职负责吏事，张之洞所遇到的困难由此展开，一方的保守派和对立人物在拆桥、铁厂选址、借款、工人罢工、矿井塌陷等事件中设置重重障碍，使张之洞的新政如履薄冰，随时都有失败危险。
