简介: 二十世纪八十年代中期，离休军人石光荣一家发生变化。大儿子石林在大裁军中转业，小儿子石海因得了抑郁症，提前复员，本来安分的女儿石晶，也从法院调到了公安局。孩子们的变化、婚恋，给晚年的石光荣和褚琴带来了烦恼。石光荣的老家蘑菇屯的乡亲们，在改革的浪潮中前赴后继地来到城里，开起了饭庄。这给本来并不平静的石光荣一家，带来了新的麻烦和转机。一家人的命运在社会大变化中，起起伏伏。老伴褚琴的突然离世给石光荣巨大的打击，一蹶不振。老战友带他回忆当年战争岁月和往事，让他找回精神寄托。晚年的石光荣致力于经营饭庄，饭庄成为了他联系家乡的精神纽带。看到石林在精神上终成自己的继任者，石晶、石海在经历了几番坎坷后，也在事业上和爱情上有了美好的归宿，石光荣欣慰地笑了。
