简介: 在白宫内有那么一群人，被称为白宫水管工。他们可以说是白宫的一个秘密小组，成立于1971年6月理查德·尼克松担任总统期间，也就是在“五角大楼“成立一周后建立。其任务是通过任何必要的、不择手段的方式，专门为尼克松收集政敌情报、抹黑对手、阻止内部人士爆料等。当时白宫分别聘请前中央情报局和联邦调查局的亨特和里迪调查五角大楼的文件泄露事件。这对不太可能的搭档随后进入了重新选举总统委员会，策划了几项令人难以置信的秘密行动——包括窃听位于水门大楼的民主党全国委员会办公室，在行踪泄露后，他们锒铛入狱。
