简介: 北宋年间，穷书生包拯进京赶考，无意中被卷入八王爷的谋反阴谋，凭借过人的聪明才智，包拯揭露八王爷，试图谋害宋仁宗，夺取皇位的诡计，保护了江山社稷的安全。因破案有功，包拯被提拔为监察御史，受命追查试图刺杀皇亲国戚刘复的凶手，刘复是当朝皇太后刘娥的弟弟，向来仗着权势飞扬跋扈、欺压百姓，包拯破获了刺杀案件，并揭开刘复的诸多恶行，终使刘复多行不义而自毙。因为刘复的案件，包拯被贬到端州，数年后，皇宫中突然爆发一起神秘的火案，仁宗差点葬身火海，因此包拯重回开封府，受命调查火案。历经艰难调查，包拯终于查清火案真相，并因此契机得以重回开封，帮助仁宗治理天下。包拯协助仁宗击败跋扈弄权的权臣和太后，迎来一个盛治之世。
