简介: 童川和江曼插队时相爱。童川参军后入新兵连集训时，由于枪走火误伤他人，被判刑两年，江曼回城后日想夜盼，但等到却是一填封“绝情信”。在邻居的热心介绍和母亲的一再催促下，江曼被迫与军官林大林结识，林爱上江曼，但是江难忘旧情又不忍言明，婚礼之际，童川被提战前释放回京，他临行前写给江曼的信恰巧被林大林看到，大林感到受了极大的侮辱，愤然离去。对越自卫还击战开始，童川由北京部队补充到昆明部队，正巧分在林大林连里当战士。在铁血生死关头，两个男子汉摒弃宿怨，林大林火线战死后，江曼出于负疚和补偿，毅然参军，来到大林生前连队，担任野战救护所护士长，童、江重逢，虽旧情如故，但前有敌军，后是战友尸骨……童川率部坚守四号高地时，双眼被炸瞎。江曼日夜守护，发誓再不分离，子夜，沉寂的都市中，行进着威武的凯旋大军。
